How important is page rank: Contrary to popular belief that page rank holds little importance in the over all placement of your website's listing in the search results page, I will attempt to dispel one the biggest misconception about the Google page rank algorithm. Your website's page rank is one of the many factors to consider when link building, assuming you already know that the most important factor to consider when link building is the number and quality of the site that you have linking to you, Lets explore the concept of page rank. The concept of page rank is the ability for documents to provide hyperlinks to each other, thus raising the popularity or page rank; I like to think of page rank as the Oprah factor simply because the strength of your links help to improve your site's overall position and domain authority. Google was the first to pioneer the concept of ranking web documents based solely on popularity or simply put how many website are linking to them, many other organic search engines have since adapted this practice. The popularity of your website or webpage are a scored using a number scale of 1 to 10 ten being most popular. Improving to page rank: The method of improving page rank is quite simple get more inbound links. But when you are factoring or calculating page rank there are some things you should keep in mind. PR is not calculated based on a simple count of the number of the links that point to your website; it takes into consideration the page rank of the web page that provides the link to your website and how many other outbound links there are on that webpage. So the higher PR-rated web page you obtain the link from, the more Page Rank will be transferred to your website! So for example, a single link from a PR6 website might be worth 30 links from PR1 websites. Below the chart displays an approximation of the number of links you will need in order to obtain a certain Page Rank.
