Promoted Tweets are Finally Here
Industry News
Today Twitter.com rolled out its much anticipated promoted tweets platform. The initial reports states there are only a handful of advertiser currently beta testing the platform. The current lineup of advertiser includes: Best Buy, Bravo, Red Bull, Sony Pictures, Starbucks, and Virgin America -- with more to come.

For those not familiar with promoted tweets, they are ordinary Tweets that businesses and organizations want to highlight to a wider group of users. Promoted Tweets will be clearly labeled as “promoted” when an advertiser is paying, but in every other respect they will first exist as regular Tweets and will be organically sent to the timelines of those who follow a brand.

According to the good folks at twitter this is only the first phase, with client based ads coming soon.
